Slow season but a great way to end it

Post by Adrian J Hare »

Sorry a little late here, work is killing me

I only bait/hunt bears for 3 weeks, and with clients I dont hunt so getting in the stand is few and far between. The last weekend I have to take down all 12 stands and clean up and remove all game cams, so

Well 2 weeks ago I decided to take off work at 3:30 pm and get packed and head for the bear baits with one stand in mind. Last weekend it was hit real good and tonight as I walked in there is feed all over so its been hit hard this week.

6:00pm I get up in the stand , hotter then the hoots of hell and sit and cool off for an hour. The darkness started early and at 7:30 I hear a russle behind me and see a black shape moving to the bait.

as the bear gets to the bait I draw the Limbsaver DZ-30 and anchor and let loose. The arrow lights up with the luminock and passes though the bear and as the bear runs. I wait and hear no mown and I can not see my arrow either. Now That dont make me feel to good. I back off and wait 2 hours before going in to track.

2 hours later I start and have a heck of a time following the trail but with a very bright light and in the area of 60 yards where I heard the last noise I find him.

Never found the arrow until the next day and I guess it passed through and the bear shut the light off when it ran and the arrow pushed into the ground.

a great way to end the season for a change
