Need Help Please -----
Need to see if anyone can help me figure out a situation. I have a new 2012 Equinox. I will try to explain my issue best I can.
I am somehow getting what I would call a V shaped dent on the nock end of my arrows, sporadically. Whatever is doing it is cutting into the nock - maybe 1/32nd of an inch. Also leaving a bit of metal on the perimeter of the nock which I have to sand off. The trigger and claws appear to be alright best I can tell. I am shooting Excalibur firebolts. The bow is shooting accurately. I tried to figure out how to post pictures - but am old and computer illiterate. I have had this happen to 6 or 7 arrows. They still shoot fine, but. I believe that I have always had them seated where they should be. It does not do it all the time - but I just can't figure out what is happening.
I was hoping maybe someone has experienced this and could tell me what I am doing. I don't think it is the bow - but do not know for sure. As stated, everything on the bow appears to be fine. I see no rough edges on the claws or the trigger assembly.
At almost $10 an arrow and unemployed, I cannot stand to tear up too many. Would be most thankful for any advice or suggestions. I truly appreciate you guys and this website.

I have the same bow but can't help you solve this mystery. I am sure someone will chime in with a solution.

Hmmmmm.... The only thing that should be touching the nock end of the arrow is the string. Sounds like your nocks are getting "knocked" by near Robin hoods. I would think you could sand the rough edges down and be ok.
Pictures would really help. I think theres a how to at the top of the page.

Are you talking about the side of the nock, like this? I used a picture with a wrap to give a better idea.
If so, that is a normal marking caused by the arrow traveling up the rail, the texture of the rail and the arrows travel can eventually wear on the nocks edges.

Have you ever noticed a burning smell when shooting
The arrow is forced down in the channel when launched
I think they are both related

Re: Need Help Please -----
I have the Equinox and I cannot see this problem on the nock ends of any of my arrows/bolts. Can you tell us if it is on the flat part of the nock end where the string rides or is it on the side of the nock which contacts the rail groove when the arrow/bolt is launched?

Re: Need Help Please -----
I sure appreciate all you folks trying to help. Am sorry that I cannot get pictures to post. Guess that is what happens when you graduate high school before computers are invented. I got some good pictures of the problem with my Nikon, just to dumb to figure out how to post.
It is very similar to the picture that One Shot posted. It is a V shaped cut in the perimeter of the aluminum nock. It is maybe 1/32nd deep and I have to sand the edge of the nock a little bit to smooth it back down. It is not a case of a near robin hood as I have had it happen this afternoon with only shooting one arrow. I don't think the arrow is being pushed down into the channel. As stated before, it does not do it all the time, which makes me think maybe I haven't gotten the arrow seated - although I would be mighty ashamed of myself if that is the cause - especially after playing archery for over 50 years.
Anyway, am reading all posts and again, you folks are very much appreciated.

Not by chance using a steel cable as a bow string are ya? That looks nasty.
Definitely appears to be getting a good smack somewhere down the line.

Is the riser flush with the rail? Or does the riser have a burr of any sort?
I dunno man. I'm just throwing ideas out there

It looks like they are marked at the same spot on each knock, which vane are you placing in the rail?
