Alberta Bound ( update ) day 2 , day 3 , day 4 , day 5

Post by catcher »

Heading to south of Edmonton Sat morning for a mule deer , whitetail combo hunt for a week. Hoping to connect with a giant muley. Mule deer first then a whitetail. It is the last week of the rifle season , I'm bringing my Tika in .270 win zeroed at 200 yards. It is going to be cold , one day the high is supposed to get to -16 low of -21. YIKES.

ENJOY!!! You're headed to my old stompin' grounds.

Don't worry about the cold - it doesn't feel as cold as it does here in Ont. because it's drier. You can bundle up for it out west while here it just creeps right into your bones.

Looking forward to hearing your hunt stories and seeing the pics!

Arrived in Alberta today , hunted for three hours saw 21 muley's with three monster bucks including one 190 inch giant at 100 yards. But by time got permission from landowner , he gone. But we know where he lives and we are going to try him tomorrow. 6 inches of snow and very cool out, but hardly notice when you are looking at deer. Lol

Thanks for keeping us updated. Can't imagine how pretty it must be up where your hunting. A lot of farmland down in my part of Pennsylvania. Look forward to hearing about the rest of your hunt.

Day 2 under the belt and still got all my bullets. I came real close to shooting a 5 x 5 135 ish buck. But he was young and also not a real great shot opportunity on him either. We saw 19 muleys and 6 were bucks but mostly 2 year olds.
I keep seeing this real old sway back huge bodied way past his rack prime 2 x 2 he has got 25 ish main beams and is about 22 inches wide but only one point on each side about 12 inches long , but the body is huge I mean huge.
So we will see what day 3 brings.

You saw more deer in Day 2 than I have seen in my whole life. :)

Hopefully, Day 3 gives you the results your looking for.
