O/T Airguns and busytails.
Took some time to chase squirrels around a couple weeks ago( since my deer season is done ).
First real hunt with my Benjamin Discovery .177 and JSB heavys.
I shot the first three in the head, then made a lung shot on the fourth. He made it to a hole before he expired!! The next two were also head shots. Ranges were from 5 yards to 35 yards.

In Europe the Benjamin and Crossmans are not that famous, but we have some Air Force rifles here and there. I own a long range PCP .22 cal, satisfying 70 fpe, you can shoot up to 150 yards with it. It is a total tuned bam 50 with a Weihrauch barrel.
A friend of mine and I plan to found a company in USA and start productions of our own air howitzers I tried several times in the stinky european union, but to produce pneumatic rifles, you generally need a license for firearms manufacturing, that's the problem. So wait a year or two and you will see the whole air rifle industry turned upside down. We are really fanatics and have some kick ass ideas to show.

I used to be an air rifle freak. The best [not fastest] I ever owned was a Weirauch 97 whatever. It had been sent to California to be 'tuned'. Believe the name was Mach 1.
I had a Bushnell 4X12 on it, deadly accurate w/ Crossman Premiers..............

Nice air rifle and a good bunch of squirrels there too. Good shootin'.
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

Congrats. There's nothing like small game hunting with air rifles.

That's a danm fine rifle awshucks. One of the best spring air rifles available, and with a tune it's absolutely beautiful to shoot.awshucks wrote:I used to be an air rifle freak. The best [not fastest] I ever owned was a Weirauch 97 whatever.

Nice shooting I've been looking at buying one in a .22 caliber because I still have some Benjamin .22 pellets pointed pellets that I've had for over 25 years. Great looking gun.

I'm partial to .20 cal and Crossman Premiers, they've shot great in all my air guns. Hard to believe but a .20 and a .22 weigh the same, believe it was 14.3 gr.

seeing as us canucks aren't allowed to use handguns for hunting, i prefer an air pistol instead of the air rifle if i want to do something different.
i use a C02 crosman 150 .22 from the 50's that my grandfather gave me and it spits out pellets at 499 fps. gotta love the smack when that little pellet meets crow breast or rabbit head. longest shot to date was 40-45 yards on a crow and it dropped like a rock

.22 pellets can vary in weight. The lead free are around 10 grain, the heaviest 31 grain (Eley wasp magnum). The middle weight fly straighter. Maybe my favorites are the 18 grain JSB.awshucks wrote:I'm partial to .20 cal and Crossman Premiers, they've shot great in all my air guns.
