Take a boy hunting

Post by Shotnbeer »

I have been taking my nephew hunting since he was 10. He'd shoot the deer and I'd do most of the work teaching him what to do as well as the dragging. Well I finally lived long enough to hit 60 and as usual we were out the first day. For a change I got the first shot and got a buck. He's playing college football and in great shape. You can't believe how relieved I was watching him drag that thing about a mile back to the house. My investment is paying off :D .

Good for you! You both will be better men for it. I turned 60 this year as well. Our best days are still ahead of us!

I am 73 and when I am lucky enough to harvest a deer I immediately call one of my sons to help get the animal out of the woods & prepared. My grandson also helped with his first deer as I had made a pull rope with a T handle that he could pull on one side with me on the other.

Nice! Sounds like it's come full circle! :)

Congrats on the buck.
It is nice to see teaching being repaid by such small acts.
