Axiom SMF upgrades

Post by zenarcher »

Hi folks,
I am a longtime traditional archer who is enjoying his new crossbow. I purchased an Axion SMF from Hnatiuks in Lantz Nova Scotia. I am amazed at how accurate this rig can be! I would like to quiet the crossbow down a bit and was wondering what would have the greatest impact; installing S5 String Shock Sound Suppression System or Dissipator Bar Kit? Thoughts would be welcome.

My vote is the S5, because you can follow the arrow flight better w/ one than w/o one.........

The S5 seems to be the best bang for your buck.

If you can afford both and don't mind the added weight. That's what I did. I will say that the noise reduction seemed minimal compared to the reduction in vibration and recoil. Those little rubber pads do good to absorb the shock the limbs and string do when they come to a halt!

S5 does the job. I want to put the Dbars on my axiom too. Its really a personally choice. No matter what the deer are still going to hear it when you pull the trigger.

Nothing you do will make the crossbow sound as quiet as your vert. Just the way it is. You can change the noise but it's still gonna be LOUDER so don't be disappointed.

The S5 gets my vote over the D-Bar system

Like the folks who chimed in before me, I too would go with the S5. Oh, and welcome to the forum. :)

Welcome! You've got a great crossbow. In my opinion, the single greatest
improvement that you can make to an excalibur, is adding a Boo string
with cat whiskers. It does a great job of eliminating some of the noise
and vibration.

Well folks,
Thanks for your quick and thorough thoughts. S5 it is. I'll post my thoughts once the install is done and I've flung a few bolts down range. All the best.

zenarcher, don't expect a lot of noise reduction w/ the add on of the S-5. Rather, pay attention to 'following the arrow' after the shot and give us your opinion on that..............
