I would think oil would be spraying everywhere every time you pulled the trigger.

I personly would not want oil on my serving. Deffinitly not where the claws contact the string. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen.jmo

The best stuff for the rail goes on dry and is super slick.

I use some bicycle chain teflon lube that sprays on and dries instantly, then rub it into the rail. I have also used premium car wax and it does a great job.

The problem with oils is they collect dirt and you end up with a messy substance that can actually do damage to your bow.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

The oil will sofen the string material over time & it will become easy to break. Like while you have it cocked & loaded huntin!

Most modern day materials come from Polyethelene. I might be wrong but I doubt it will affect the integrity of the string or serving material. BCY uses a solvent based dye so possibly the stuff you are using may strip the colour. I think if you are determined to use gun oil you should call BCY and ask them. 860-632-7115
BTW, there is a whack of different gun oils. Some with solvents, some without. Better read the ingredients before calling BCY.
