Removing D-Bars

Post by ch312 »

i'd like to remove the dissipator bars from my exomax, but i've never used the bow without them. will i need any different parts or do i simply remove them and use the existing hardware on the limbs?

Unless you're just storing the bow I wouldn't remove them, your bow generates allot of energy and needs them to dissipate it

You will need a limb bolt washer and shorter bolts.

A quick call to Excalibur will net you the needed parts to your door in a few days. Our 3 are DB less.

Is there an advantage to removing the DB's besides weight? Just curious.

I don't knowed if'en its advantage or not. Less weight is good & 3 of my 4 Excals run without them. The 4th soon will be soon as i get the cup washers n shorter bolts

the biggest advantage for me besides the weight is you dont have to fool with removing the pad when you take the string off..one less thing to mess with ..

if you run the S5s then they are kind of overkill..
i shot my exomax a good bit without either..it is a bit louder but i liked the feel of it naked..

I would keep them on unless you are using the S5s.

ch - Definitely contact Excalibur for the hardware. I was surprised the Matrix line does not come with them. Let us know what you decided to do: With or Without. All the best.

thanks everyone, i'll be firing off an email to excalibur shortly. :D

i've had this bow for at least 6 years and i've never used it without the d-bars so i'm not sure if removing them is a good idea or not. but, i just installed the S5 this year and i feel like they're not needed anymore.

will i notice much difference after removing them?

thats the way i run mine now and trust me you wont miss them at all..
all youll need is two cup washers and 2 1" screws to replace the longer ones you have on the d bars now..i got some stainless ones from the hardware store.

I've been debating making this call myself and removing them from my Vortex.

All you will notice abit lighter nose weight. DB ars are not a noise reduction system. They're more of a limb vibe system, you have an S5 system on & thats all you need if'en you really need that
