what was the longest shot and animal taken with your Excalibur???

Thirty-eight yards. Raking away, head down, eating and completely relaxed. If all the conditions didn't exist I would not have taken the shot. Otherwise 30 yards is my max.

Like Boo, I shot a Buck last year 37,38yds with my Y25. Before that in side 30yds.

A doe at 43 yards ( with a Exocet165 w carved limbs ) but only because I thought my buddy had already shot shot her .

40yds. For me, our deer go bonkers when they here my vortex go twang! I prefer close as I can get and have better luck using my quietier vixen with heavy arrows.

41 yds in 09 used me E'cet 200 fer that one. Wouldn't have been that long but he refused to stop walkin!

I've taken two doe at a ranged 40 yards with my ExoMax. Both were clean kills at relaxed deer. I took a shot at a doe that was alert at 38 yards and the deer almost pulled a Matrix maneuver before the arrow arrived. Luck was on my side and it was still a quick clean kill, but I wouldn't do it again. I prefer my shots to be in the 25 to 30 yard range. I want them close, but not too close.

DH- Take a deer at 7 yards with a longbow, and tell me it's not a rush.

First year with the Excal, all my kills were around 20 yards... Might be willing to stretch it to 35 next year if the conditions are right.

I try to keep within 40yrds when deer hunting (weather permitting)
Hog hunting I am trying to keep everything with in 30yrds.

35 yards was the longest so far I would try one at 40 if the conditions were perfect and the deer was completely relaxed.

My first and only kill so far was this year a big whitetailed doe at 25 yards broadside with The (Equinox) Beast. I pass on game over 30 yards which is my maximum.

While I usually keep shots close I did shoot one at 21 yards a couple seasons back.
And I have shot a few at less than 10 yards.

My first deer shot with my Exocet (1993) was a longshot and I had to finish the doe with my knife. Since then I have harvested 35 +/- deer with my Excalibur's under 20 yards. Too many variables can and do happen as the shot distance increases, therefore I constantly try to improve my hunting skill to keep shots close. My recovery rate is very good and the way I see it, keeping shots close leads to increased hunting success. I am not a fan of long shots.
