helped a friend fill a tag today

Post by ottawacats »

Well after two snow storms that have dropped about 2'-3' of snow since Christmas eve the deer really have been busy try to find food. So this morning as I was feeding the kids breakfast we looked out the window to see three doe's in the back yard. So we tried to be really quiet but that didnt work so quick call to a buddy that still had a buck tag left from shotgun season. So we took a walk to the back to wait and see what would come by the feeder. Well when we got half way back we saw the three doe's and one buck about 100 yards away. They wandered off and we kept walking to my feeder, sure enough we timed it right. The doe's wouldn't come out of the tree line, they kept peeking but wouldn't take the walk towards the feeder. Then after about 5 minutes the buck we saw walked out head down right for the feeder, a well placed shot and he dropped about 30 yards away. So now here is the problem the snow is around waist deep and he is on the opposite side of the creek that I shot him on, so a quick phone call to one more friend and a ride on the snowmobile to pick the buck up. So here is the photo of where he dropped a nice sized 9 point buck. My buddy was happy to but meat in the freezer but bummed out that he didnt get to pull the trigger, he doesn't bow hunt. Oh and the Ibex gets one more notch on and Thank you to Don-Boo for the great string that flung a firebolt.

Matt

Great looking buck there. Way to go. :)
