techniques/tools for resharpening replaceable bh blades

Post by evaughan »

Hello and happy new year

Have read mention on here of members resharpening replaceable blades. Would appreciate any helpful advice on regaining a surgical quality edge. Do you use a clamp/jig system such as a lansky etc to maintain a constant angle or are any of you using a broadhead specific sharpening tool? Thanks in advance. Also, what is best to remove that black wax buildup that forms around the brace height marks on the deck? thanks.

I use isopropyl alcohol to clean my rail and then spray Silicone onto a rag and wipe it down. I find this reduces friction and helps reduce build up a bit longer.

I use a Lansky system to re-sharpen the blades from my Rage broadheads. I use a dry clean rag to wipe off any wax residue from the rail of my Vortex.

+1 on the Lanky, I use the fine diamond stone then perform a final using a leather stop.

+3 on the Lansky. I use it on my Slicktricks and get them sharper than factory replacement blades.
