Magnus Bullhead

Post by IH8ATTN »

Just wondering if anyone is using these with their Excalibur for turkey hunting. I know they can get in the way of the stir-up but I plan to get a custom stir-up machined to not interfere with the broadhead itself. Just looking for some feedback, thanks.

Most guys use a 22" shaft and a rope stirrup .The only disadvantage is that you need the turkey close and head up. They dont fly well past 25yrds.

I say, stick with your regular BH. I'll be using a Swhacker and a muzzy this Spring.

Even for a head shot? just don't wanna damage any of the meat.

Forget head shooting. A regular BH does very little meat damage. Just be aware that you are not aiming for the breast. From a side profile, shoot above the leg and through the wing area.

Also try to keep your arrow in the bird, It cant fly or run that way. Very hard to find a turkey with a bad hit. Back to the head shot, why not....Excaliburs can chop thier heads off with a Expandable or Fixed. But remember you only get 1 shot. Make it count.

Secret ... How do you keep the arrow in the bird?

It would seem challenging to get a turkey to stop directly in front of a cinder-block wall.

I remember at Cabela's once they had a TV with a running video loop of turkey heads being lopped off by some new expandable broadhead. Slow motion turkey heads is not something you see every day.

Not sure if this thread is still live but for Secret, that Muzzy grasshopper turkey thing looks like it might be a pretty effective gizmo. Does it really stop the arrow from a pass-through or just increase shock and slow it down a bit? Also based on your experience or anyone else's how much do those wires effect accuracy? I assume they're offset from the blades?

Grousegrove, They weigh 20gr ,they do not effect accuracy , That broadhead is the same one i use for deer. I min. weight arrow really helps in recovery. Heavier weight arrows will blow right through. The main advantage is it stands your arrow up in grass if a passthrough happens. I killed turkey with this combo like my [Avatar] ill post a link to one of my videos. The offset dosnt effect anything.A 4 blade broadhead ,i would line them up between the blades. You can shoot them as far as you can . Good luck Afield .
