Shooting bareback again

Post by Masboy »

getting ready for deer early this time without sights an stripped my vortex of all an even the cheek piece an fits me like a glove. an should weigh less than my scoped vixen . was out this morning an freezing cold but had the most fun I had in a longtime shooting at 20yds an after a few shots this thing is deadly an shoots dead in line by looking strait down the arrow . no more vanes touching the mount I could hardly see the arrow it flew so strait to the target . can,t wait to practice all summer an should be no problem for deer at out to my normal shooting range except at low light ? here,s some different sight pictures you get looking down the arrow. I like to get down an just see the tip of the arrow In line with the two spring retainer screws on top. would like to move the retainer an screws all together but have not figured it out yet? reminds me of my recurve days only no sore fingers an much more accurate for me. just plain down fun to shoot !!!!\

Sure looks different without the scope mounted up top. :)

WOW!!! Now that's different. I would be totally lost without my scope.

Nice. I like it. I'm not confident enough to do it, but I like it.

That's pretty cool. I like that set up. How long before you get bored with it ?
If you put sights/scope back then will you appreciate it more ?

I plan on leaving it off an enjoy it much more than my scope . I will get a lot of practice before hunting with it an can,t wait to shoot deer with a great view of the shot ! I,m an old trapshooter an know a lot about gun fit an concentrating on your target. it,s not hard with the inline part it,s the height part and after some practice it just comes natural . last year I was shooting with the boys out to 50yds an holding my own with them shooting there compounds but I was sitting down shooting like I do hunting. I don.t feel it,s any big deal or handicap but just more fun an exciting to hunt with. your just not going to set there an drill the bull like with a scope with you're best arrows. but still shoots great an fun fun fun!! also will do the same with my vixen for shooting fish this summer off the front of my pontoon an can,t wait! cabin fever bad here!!!! come on spring!!!

Out today in the snow an set on my rear resting my arm on my knee at 36 yds an shot the first three just to see where I was hitting at that range an all three went high so then try to adjust my aim to get on the bull an shot two groups of 5 an lost two nocks that where damaged an one fletching on some good arrows . I,m gap shooting useing the tip of the arrow an this is only my second time of shooting since last summer without my sight. will not be shooting at the same bull anymore with more than one arrow if I can help it. just need to work on my habit of canting my bow an a lot more practice .

Excellent shooting! I'm impressed.

Now you can try shooting from the hip. :)
