Dissipator Bar Screw ?

Post by JT of PA »

The above screw (A) is what came with my Ibex and the dissipator bars.

I called Excalibur and was sent screw (B) to use in place of screw (A) when I took off my dissipator bars.

Does is matter that screw (B) does not have the same design of screw (A) ?

(B) has no smooth shoulder ... thread all the way to the top.

I knew screw (B) would be shorter but I thought it would match the design of screw (A). There is slop when you put screw (B) in the oval bracket that helps hold the limb in place.

Was not sure if screw (B) is a new design or if I received the wrong part and should contact Dawn with a FYI.

Thanks.

You have the correct part from Dawn. Count the number of turns with "A" till it seats and then remove it and the DB bar. Use the same number of turns with "B", or turn both "B" screws in evenly till you see the limb recoil plate bend ever so slightly then stop.
The "A" screw just made it easy, just seat it good and forget it. The "B" screw was the original one used befor DB bars existed. Only good sense was used with the "B" screw.

You need screw "b" & the recoil plate with #10 holes in it which is sized for "b" screw.

Screw "a" uses a recoil plate with larger holes which is what you have now.

Hope this helps, Hoagy

Took my dissipator bars off the ibex today as well. The "B" screw I got are silver, way too shiney for hunting, but OK for target till fall. I'm gonna try to get them dark...paint, gun blue, marker might work if not I'll call Dan. He sent these to me in the first place.

I tightened the screws till the gaskets started to swell, did I over tighten them? Didn't think about counting the number of turns.

Toytruck,

I tightened my screws just as you did... the rubber gasket squished a bit. I have a just over a 100 shots on my Ibex without the dissipator bars ... no problem.

I was concerned I was going to strip out the screws. I did use this product on the scews before putting them in place.

All the best.

Thanks JT, I put some wally world blue thread locktite on my threads, its medium strength so removes easily, and screws won't back out. Used it for years on my scope rings/mounts no problems.
