Regular nocks in a crossbow

Post by Masboy »

Any one ever tryed regular bow nocks in a crossbow? I been looking an see no reason they would not work an fit on my serving . mabey break when shot? mabey custom aluminum ones ? no arrow sliding forward always kept in place? just wondering if would be any advantage or not? Like the super slams that have the uni nock? Would like to do away with my retainer spring but guess you have to have the down pressure? just tinkering an thinking while working an going over my bows in the shop on these boring cold days an running out of things to work on

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think a bow nock will seat correctly in the trigger mechanism, causing the string to smack the nock upon release. The retainer stops the arrow from lifting at the front, so I don't think you can remove it.

I use capture and semi capture nocks on my Vent. They work well but are more likely to break and possibly cause a dryfire. So keep an eye on them.

Check out the special crossbow nocks that were made for use with the old Jennings Devastator and PSE Foxfire/Starfire crossbows.

They are heavier walled than the Easton Uni nocks ?? I believe they were called.

The nocks are a little difficult to find but a quick Internet search should find you some.
In my experience they worked well in 2117 and 2219 shaft sizes with no glue out of a Jennings devastator.

Never tried any of those arrows in my excalibur so no idea what will happen and I'm not an expert on these things so only putting my thought out there.

Good luck with the experiment if you try it.

I had string jump recently one of my flat nock firenocks so went with the D nock from Firenock...no problems...they are made much heavier and they also work in the PSE Tac 15. I am shooting them out of the Matrix 380. Just got in some aero-vanes 3's and will be testing them today.

that sounds good waiting to hear the results. I guess I won,t try regular nocks don,t need new limbs. if I did I would make sure my string serving hits the nock dead center. and now with my string an serving thickness the only ones that look like a dead center hit are the 21 series arrows with incerts for nocks . I checked all my flat nocks an plastic nocks an 22 series arrows an the serving hits them all a litte low an the maxim hunters kv plastic nocks the lowest of all. so I will stay with the 21 series arrows. Won,t be needing the lucky robe
