limb protection
Any of you long time shooters ever had any wear happen on the limbs from using the stringing aid over the years? Just wondered if anyone put tape on the limbs as a precaution or put something on the inside of the stringing aid holes that is soft. Just curious

Re: limb protection
I used to think the same, but still no isues here and I have strings on & off a lot when testing strings.
Re: limb protection
That is why I stopped using the factory stringing aid.

Re: limb protection
I made my own stringing aid. The hooks are from black polyamid 6,6 They are softer than the bow, but enough strong. It works beautiful, unlike my styrofoam target . The factory aluminum rings are a little bit overkill.

Re: limb protection
Has anyone made a stringing aid that was 100% rope only ?
I was looking at loop knots and figure a rope only stringing aid would pack neater in my kit.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank You.

Re: limb protection
I use a rope only stringing aid that has small 2" to 3" bowline knot loops in each end 35.5" apart. The bowline knot is easy to adjust for length and the rope that I use came from Ace hardware & is approximately the same size as the cocking aid rope. The rope does NOT cause any wear on the limbs that I can detect. Hope this helps.

Re: limb protection
I made a "pack" stringer out of para cord and a little bit of vinyl tubing.A bowline knot at each end and its done.Very easy and will roll up small in a pack. I'm sure that this shouldnt be used a jillion times but will work in the field a time or two. I made it originally because I painted my limbs and didnt want to chip 'em up getting the string back on the bow.
This is not an original idea on my part. Dont remember where I saw it first.

I appreciate you all sharing your ideas with me. Those of you that made the rope stringers , do you normally use the standard stringer as is straight out of the box?
