Dec 2012 to March 2013 , Jack rabbits and Crossbow talk ...
Hello all ... Here are some pictures off my camera from Dec 2012 to present .
We had some real windy days around in December ... Took my one of me neighbors trees down and snapped one off at my West wind break .
Here are a few critter shots from last few days of the whitetail season .
Had some geese landing in my back field at seasons end as well .
As the snow continued into the new year , the deer started they yarding routes .
And picking over my back field for dropped corn cobs started ,
When my wife and I walked the back trails it was not uncommon to see deer bedded below the ridge .
Any openings along the river still holding Mallards and Geese .
Down the road from me , I saw this formation at a creek mouth ? ( some gas bubbling up and freezing into a column )
Got a picture of this wandering skunk as we headed North near the end of February , for a couple Jack Rabbit hunts .
Our standard Jack drives = find tracks and then a lots of snowshoeing . We hit a few of the regular farms that have held jacks before , but numbers seemed down this year > 1st outing we moved two and got one ( CH made a nice running shot with his 222 ) , and 2nd outing we moved three and got two . ( RS = another running shot with his 22 mag and CH scored another with his 222 )
Did I mention lots of snowshoeing ...
CH walking in with the group after a successful route
Here is a picture of Randy with his 1st 22 mag " on the run " Jack Rabbit ...
This is the biggest Jack taken in the two outings , In hindsight , I should have put something beside it for size reference .
So here is a picture of it being field dressed at one of the farms we hunted .
End of February into March , lots of chatter re: the Matrix 380 ... I can say from experience it is a sweet shooter for sure !
It is cool to see the progression of Excal's from the Original Relayer to the Y25 Relayer > Many models between , then the Exomax and Equinox and now the compact ( scary fast ) Matrix 380. > ( Both Blackout and Realtree Xtra Models are their own " works of art " ! ) Stay tuned for spring field reports !...
Now time to scout a suitable spring Gobbler ...
PS : I have a Custom Tigerstripe maple ( Mark Henegar stock ) Mag tipped Limb Exomag , soon to be posted on the trading post .
Good luck to all that are predator hunting ... and have fun with Spring Turkey and Shed antler scouting !

Rick, what can I say but, "WOW". By the way, I roared when I seen the Jack Rabbit hanging being skinned, that hurt my insides, . Please warn me next time so I can grab the pillow, .
It was a great walk along with you. Great pictures. All those crossbows hanging there made me reach for a towel, .
Thanks,
Raymond

Great pics as usual. thanks for taking us along.
2 Matrix 380's?
Must be nice. Are they both yours?
The black out looks amazing.
I wonder who will be the first to dip the rail black to match the limbs & stock?

A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

That's right. I handle all 3 of the Matrix Models and never realized that the Black Matrix 380 didn't have a black rail. That would look so cool with a black rail. Now I remember, I was kneeling down on the floor because I had so much back pain that I couldn't stand up while looking at the three Matrix Crossbows. I was having a really bad bad day, it was the long drive to the city to see a doctor that gave me so much pain. But going through the pain was still worth handling those Matrix Crossbows.bellerivercrossbowhunter wrote:Great pics as usual. thanks for taking us along.

Awesome pics as always R.J.
Those pics of the gas bubble columns were very cool. I've never seen anything like that before.
Thanks for sharing with us again.

Thank's all ... No secret > I'm a firm believer in the " pictures worth a 1000 words " phrase .
I have many cameras in different states of function and repair > Pentax PZ10 35mm SLR, Pentax K100D Digital SLR, Canon S3 IS digital, 10 MP , with 12x Optical Zoom, pocket Olympus Stylus 600 digital and Panasonic DMCZS1 Lumix .
The indoor crossbow pictures were taken with a beat up pocket camera ( Olympus Stylus 600 digital )
My main field camera and the one used in the pictures posted on this thread is a mid entry model Pentax K100D with an after market 75-300 Sigma lens .I'm hard on my camera equipment as well as most of my gear > This camera is very dirty now and I don't seem to get the same crisp pictures I use to when I first got it ( compare to pictures below ) ... But then again I find the rough shots kinda flow with the theme of " in the field " shots .
Here are some pictures that I took way back when I first got that camera > they seem much crisper than recent .

Nice custom paint job one the white one.
What's 64 tons, green and black, and can take a deer at 3400m. A leopard tank.
