I got there and worked my way to the woods behind the home stead and got setup. Fences rows running in 4 different directions and a small corn field between 3 wood lots of Hardwood on one side and two thicker cedar clump lots on the two other ends. I started a low pitch female howl and a couple seconds put on the cottontail dst for about 2 minutes. Waited for 2 minutes and ran the same rabbit dst for another 2 but I raised the volume a little from 20 to 24 and I look up and theres a dog running from the house area up the fence row and she stops for a look only a 100 yards. My gun is already set in the direction and like Les Johnson I slowly set my crosshairs on the Vortex Crossfire and swueeze off. Down she goes and another happy landowner when I got back to the truck as the lady of the house and the kids came out to great me.
I now wish I had a picture of the seminar I put on for the kids. 4 kids 2 girls and 2 boys all about 8-10 and I showed them the coyote where I shot it, What I was doing with it and I also used the hand calls and showed them how to Howl and what a wounded rabbit sounds like that the coyote came too.
They were all excited to see this and I was very well welcome to return to call again. She told me another hunter she gave permission to last fall told her he would clean up the coyotes around here area, but to her surprise she has never seen him nor has he ever came and showed her a coyote that he took. I have a bad feeling now for this other hunter
I'm not impressed with the picture but I tried to change it up a little
