It was a wet morning with a slight rain and a wind blowing right for the setup. Back at one of the new properties I parked as it was just light but can not see any distance. I grab the stuff and head to the feild edge and work my way down the edge to place in the field behind a large cattle barn. I get to the woods and along a swamp grass edge and as I reach a setup tree I notice 3 yotes in the field all working towards me along the edge. I try to find a lean or a place to sit and because of small branchs on the tree trunk I decide to pull out the legs on the bipod and kneel.
The first yote makes it out about 175 yds and broad side and I take steady aim and bang down he goes. The other two runs and I grab a hand caller and do a quick KiHi and the one yote stops out about 250 and I take aim and down he goes. The other yote was running so fast his back end was passing his front end so I didnt get a shot as it would not have been good.
Not a great calling morning but a elimination of predators that seem to be over run in this area.
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.
Impressive! i seem to be missing the dam things more often than not. I had one in the scope for 5mins with no shot opportunity, when he finally moved a bit i was so shaky that the odds were in his favor.
