X-Act BH?

Post by purl »

I picked up some X-Act BHs. My question is, I sighted my exomax in using 125g field points. Would there be any appreciable difference in sights out to 30yds using these 100gr BHs? I don't really want to shoots these into my target. Should I pick up some 100gr field points an sight in using those?
Thanks

Purl,

I use the XActs but with 100 g field points. I get the same point of impact with both. i shoot a vixen and a vortex.

You are using a faster bow and while I am not certain, you may find a difference even at 30 yds. For the cost of buying new field points I wouldn't want to take a chance of wounding an animinal with a shot that is too high.

If you do get the 100 g field points you should repost and share the results.

I only hunt with X-Act mechanical broadheads with my Vixen and the point of impact is the same as my field points.

Regarding harvesting whitetail deer and turkeys, I have found that the X-Act mechanical broadheads are just as efficient (or more so) than when I used fixed blade broadheads.

After hunting, I normally just replace the blades. The maker of the X-Act broadheads also makes practice X-Act broadheads. Since I find no difference in the point of impact between the X-Act broadheads and field points, I no longer use the practice heads to zero my Vixen.

I put on 100gr field points and at 40yds it was about 1" high compared with the 125gr. Dropped the scope 1 click and it was pretty well dead on @ 40yds. Moved in to 20 and still good. I didn't move out to 50yds. Figured 20 or 30yds would be my max for turkeys.

I use them. I use a delta target and can clearly see they are closed when reaching the target. They are all open at exit point.
They have a huge open blade diamater and would be my choice at long range deer. I would use my magnus stingers on hogs though as they have amaizing armour in the shoulder and the magnus blow through anything. Mechs go through target and poke out back round 3" magnus i lose my fletchings in target probably 10" out back. Food for thought i reckon! Magnus are deadly accurate out to 50+ yd, easily as good as x-acts.
