I have a variety of broadheads, both fixed and mechanical and of different weights, different shafts and I can tune my crossbow plus or minus 30fps.
With that said, I'm thinking with turkeys not being very dense in body mass, a faster, lighter bolt would be the better choice, as it's not important to achieve a pass through as much as shot placement, and the extra speed without added kinetic energy should be beneficial.
What are your thoughts?

Yes . x2 . From talking to some great Turkey hunters here Boo, Adrian, Norm, auto, and a few more. The over all consensus is a fixed ! G5 , SlickTrick seem to be a favorite of the fellas.Fletch2 wrote:Im a fixed fan, this eliminate mechanical error just my two cents
Remember they tell me- the wings are like armour so don't be afraid of some weight.

Re: Set up for Turkey
killed one with a Swhacker and another one with a fixed blade Muzzy. Both broadheads did their job. Both bolts had a 110 gr insert for a total front-end weight of 210 gr. Used a Muzzy grasshopper on the fixed blade Muzzy. The grasshopper won't work with the Swhacker. The threaded shank on the Swhacker is too short and it won't thread into the bolt with the grasshopper in place. Shot placement is definitely a critical issue. Good hunting.

Thanks, the response are appreciated.
I think I'm going to give it a go, with one of the expandable broadheads and see if the grasshopper will fit. I think the biggest reason will be, I have more opportunity to get out for turkey locally and there are plenty around here as well.
I think the biggest challenge, is going to be getting permission for private property, where they are abundant.
