Matrix changes everything.

Post by deer_unlimited »

Indeed, it does. I have excalibur Xbox for 15 years by now, recently I've bought matrix 380 and I'm so much impressed.

That would be awesome. The hunters in my family only want to gun hunt. Lame! We've been trying to find some other archery hunting friends! I don't know how it is in other states but here you have $27 for gun or $27 for archery. You can get both, but you have to pay for both in addition to the standard hunting/fishing license. Everyone we know only has the gun endorsement and don't want to get the archery endorsement for the archery only seasons. Right now you can use either, though, but we are trying to get an archery only hunt together :) I think archery season here starts Sept 22nd. Just a heads up!

Ditto. I'm not saying it doesn't take skill to try to kill something a half a mile away with a gun, but to me I feel like if I want to see if I can hit tennis ball at half a mile I can just shoot at tennis balls. Archery hunting requires a more intimate interaction with your prey, plus I feel like there should be at least some risk associated with hunting a bigger animal. It shouldn't just be about being able to find one and then unloading a magazine into it until it is dead if need be. It should be about outwitting it and getting that perfect one-shot opportunity and if you screw it it might eat your face. :) Now, THAT, is exciting to me!

I love Excalibur crossbows and the NEW Matrix does change everything. I have been thinking on getting the Matrix 380 Xtra myself, but my Equinox is too NEW and in a few years I might upgrade.

I apologize, but I must interject to the following.

I can respect that you don't want to use firearms, but are you here to bash gun owners/hunters again?

I cannot respect you if you make anti-gun statements or comments in order to push your beliefs. There is anti-gun forums for this activity and might be in violation on this forum.

I personalty think that shooting at animals at 880 (half a mile) yards and/or unloading a magazine into an animal is unethical, when one shot one kill is all that's needed.

My maximum range for a center fire cartridge chambered rifle is 300 yards and sometimes I use a single shot rifle, so no magazine. My 14 year old daughter hunts deer with a Thompson Center Encore which is a single shot platform.

I have successfully spotted & stalked and/or still hunted deer and antelope within archery range while hunting with firearms. Method of harvest doesn't make a hunter skillful, its all about the hunter in my humble opinion.

Sincerely,
Andrew

I'm with Andrew on that too. Don't come here and knock gun hunting (again).

I'll use whatever legal method is allowed and would be the most humane way to kill. That means I'll use a shotgun for turkeys - except on Sundays when there is no shotgun hunting.

For me the bow is a way to extend the season and enjoy more time in the woods.

For the taking of a life, my main objective is to do it as quickly and humanely as possible. There is no joy in watching an animal die more slowly than necessary.

I don't believe she is bashing anyone guys... To me she is expressing her own point on view. She stated why gun hunting isn't for her that's all. Lots of people here, some not in a while, voice their own opionion. I'm not picking sides just think it's a little premature.

I understand what she is saying I have seen guys shoot a buck three or four times just because they had that many shells in the gun I hunt on public land and Ive seen guys shoot someone elses buck 2 or 3 times when it runs by them but it is like anything else idiots are everywhere And you have ethical hunters and unethical and your right she was just expressing and explaining her passion of being up close and personal with the game she is hunting And not getting the same thing out of it by being 3 or 4 hundred yards away I am the same way doesnt mean we condem gun hunters just is not my thing either To each his own JMO
