Matrix 380 extra , where is the 2 lines ?

Post by MAB »

Hi everybody, This is the first time I participate to a forum. I bought my first xbow and it is the matrix 380 extra. Last weekend, I assemble it but I did not yet try it, I cannot wait for the weekend
Question: For the Matrix 380 extra , according to the video there 2 lines where the string should be sitting(I dont see the lines). Also my string is about 5/8 inch from the ’riser’, if there is no 2 lines is 5/8 inch righ? I intend to buy a second string ready(tested) to go for hunting.
thx for your help

I have the 355 and they say keep the string just off the reds. When you find your sweet spot mark it on the side of the barrel and mantian that.

IMO, you don't need the lines. I have the S5s on my Equinox which I believe are similar to the 380 REDS, rubber bumpers. I have found that the best setting for accuracy is to keep the string 1 to 2 string widths off the S5 bumpers. As the string stretches you can adjust the length by putting a CCW twist into the string. CCW as looking into the end of the string. I also rotate the bumpers after several shots to increase the bumper life. Hope this helps & welcome to the forum.

A lot of shooter's will have different brace height's , which is'nt wrong but I was told about 1/16 ? I hold mine between 1/16 and an 1/8 ? off the rubbers, See what the majority think's and go with that .

I thought the same thing when I got my 380 but I then just set the string about 1 string thickness from the bumper,I think from being strung when I got mine the string had stretched out a bit, took about 8-10 twists and it was where I wanted it.

I guess that's where mine is at, about a 1/8th.

Start at 1/4" between the bumpers and the string. Go higher first but you'll likely find what you want less than 1/4".

Thx to all. After work, I stop at my dealer. He told me to keep the bumper at 1/16 to 1/8. He also told me to cork the crossbow( safety on) and mesure 13.13 from the trigger.....And mark a Line. This is where the string should be.

My crossbow is new And it is at 12.9 ......after a few arrows it should get a bit longer.

Thx again, I need to buy a target and wait for Saturday.

Just curious if the string is set at 1/8" from bumpers what is the brace height from the riser? I have some if tinks style bumpers and was wondering where mine is in relation to the REDS.

Glad to have seen this post. Cabelas put it together, and I should have thought about that :) when I got home. The string actually sits on the S5 pads. Also, I put one end of the rope cocker on the string and actually have to pull the string up about 2" to hook the other end.

Me too Rick. I don't think it's a wise thing to do. To me it's akin to putting your head in a bear trap with the safety on.
