Scope shim question

Post by jh45gun1 »

My scope is the older Excalibur with the chevrons and it is not the one with the ring for adjusting. Anyway shooting at about 23 yards and it is two inches low with the scope maxed up elevation wise. Elevation is fine. So I know you have to shim the back ring how much shim material will do it?

Yea I saw your post that you were shooting high. I will try 4 shims in the back that should give me some lee way. I bought some steel shim stock at the gun shop. Cost me a grand total of 50 cents. :D

OK went and shot it today to check it out. I had backed the elevation down to about the middle if its range. Took a shot I was about 4 inches low adjusted and at 22 yards using the crosshair I was one inch high right at the top of the 2 inch bullseye. At 30 yards using the first chevron marker on the scope inch an a half high this was using my factory Parker arrows with 100 grain inserts. I sure do like them capture knocks on them arrows. At 40 yards using a 125 grain broadhead I was 2 inches high. I will leave it as is I would rather be an inch or so high then shooting low.
