Finished Hybrid Vixen W/Pic's

Post by vixenmaster »

I have been ponderin this fer a few months. It won't be a super Vixen. Vixen's were never made to be fast nor powerful, jus real sweet comfortable shooters n Deadly Killers! In this proto project if'en i decide to go wid it. I will use the old short mainframe/rail from my 96 cast risered Vixen. How to improve or pick-up abit of speed, dacron string would have to be taken off. You put a string of the newer materials on it wid carved tip limbs that would ruin them. So you would put on the mag tip limbs & a newer string. Well lots of ppl. have done jus that either from the original limbs bein damaged or they jus kept theirs n upgrade out of their pocket fer the change. Now they have a 265 fps model instead of the old 250 fps model. We all knowed the newer Risers don't fit because of the rail to Riser joint ht. diff. So if'en a person gotstid a Forward Riser n had it machined down to correct ht. Then you could improve speed/fps abit more, say another 15 fps. Given you a ruff est of 280 fps. So anyone think this is a project worth foolin wid ? I knowed i could buy another Vixen, but i don't need another 3 are enuff.

vixenmaster,
sounds like you are a big do it yourselfer. If you want to try and anodize yourself you can go to Caswell Plating and get the stuff to do it. They are a great resource for many other things as well.

I think the old Vixen rail with a forward riser and mag tip limbs is what my Phoenix is. (one of the very early models)

Mike yer correct the 1st yr Phoenix used a 14"powerstroke vixen rail. All of those mainframe/rail from the machined straight & Forward Risered Vixens had the longer 17 3/8". This one i jus got finished has the old cast Riser & the mainframe is only 17" long. About what the Vixen II is
