I like to use a rubber band around the stock which I pass over the safety to hold it down. A little extra insurance.

In the stand I hold the bow. If I have to put it down to do something I'll either hang it by the stirrup on a hanger, or unload it and lower it from the stand.

I hunt a Summit also. What do you do if a deer comes up behind you and you have to stand and turn around to shoot?

My stands are typically not in a spot where deer come from behind, river edges, fence lines etc.. If I do find myself in a location that requires me to shoot behind me, my stand would be facing in that direction, or I use no strap at all.
Different locations call for different strategies.

All my ladder stands have rails, my bow rests on the rail and my right hand is on the rear handhold at all times. One stand has a partial branch conveniently located where I could hang the bow, but I seldom do. Same goes with any firearms I (used) to hunt with, albeit the 'hand cannons' (single shot, rifle caliber handguns) lay in my lap.

My daughter and I were just talking about where the heck I would put the bow in our two person ladder stand. That Highpoint bow holder looks lime a good idea.

Also like the idea of having a tether.

I hang mine on a crossbow holder while in the tree or if I'm hunting in the evening in one of my lock ons I just hold mine in my lap.

I also tether mine through the thumbhole stock. I use a web belt across one shoulder and the chest. I can adjust the belt for length. I can also use it to carry my bow instead of the traditional sling. I tighten up the belt and the bow hangs under my arm and down my right side.
