Scorpion Venom Rail Lube vs Excalibur Serving wax?

Post by williamN »

Which would you use?

BTW, I have both products on hand.

ETA: The Xbow is the Matrix 355 if that makes a difference.

Nothing on the rail.
I'd wax the string and serving.

I use Scorpion Wax in the blue tin for string and serving. The Scorpion Rail Lube on the rail, goes on wet and dries unnoticeable. Not a lube more like a slick coating.

Dan, I like the stuff also! The lube and the wax has lasted me several seasons. I'm sure I don't shoot as often as many! Although I really don't think it would matter. Buy (1) tin and (1) lube, bought each in pairs and gave away one of each.

Not promoting by any means! My rail on my Vortex is not camo finished. With that said I have no knowledge if the lube will damage a camo finished rail?

I spray my rail with WD-40 and then wipe it off to clean the rail.Danny Miller told me this.

I use Jig a loo on my rail to clean the wax off and it leaves the rail slippery.

I too clean my rail (Vortex) with WD-40 and put nothing on the rail, and do not wax the serving - just the string. All of this per Danny Miller.

Not to say Danny's advice is incorrect (WD-40). Just seems to leave an unwanted scent when in a hunting situation. I'm sure I stink like all He!! to a deer what do I know? May follow up the cleaning with something else? I know everything will leave a scent behind!

I clean the rail and trigger with denatured alcohol, evaporates quick, no residue for the super noses to detect.
I use just a dab of Venom rail lube every 50 -75 shots or so and spread it very very thin, have used String Snot or bohning seal-tite on occasions for the string.
Kinda like the String Snot, not as thick an gummy as some string waxes.

Not endorsed or recommended by anyone, just what works for me.

Oppie, since you live in Pa and have a fox as your avatar, how's this look? They all [5xx] were trapped in Pa in one season by a pair of brothers, as I recall:

I'm just a newb but thought the purpose of the wax was to reduce friction between the serving and rail? What is the benifit of applying it to the string?

WoW! That's a lotta fox!
The one in my avatar was taken this last winter right behind my house. There's quite a few where I live, I don't bother them, they don't bother me.
They did thin out my neighbor's chickens though....
I have a picture of one with a chicken foot hanging outta it's mouth

I do not agree with Excals idea of using Wax on the serving or rail as they used to claim. The old wax was sticky and to my mind slows things down. I have always used rail lube and now that I bought my Parker xbow I bought their lube and wax. The wax is more fluid not as sticky and works right into the string and the lube is really slippery. Good stuff from what I can see so far.
