My setups very from trip to trip . Normally I will use either the two hens one jake or one & one. I own 7 different decoys including a maiting pair (unfortantly this pair has spooked more birds than helped) and normally carry 4 or 5 with me in my vest.

Well, there is nothing like using a live decoy!Camper wrote:How many Decoys do you use?
I sat this morning and did the cluck and the purr for an hour or so with 1 decoy in front of me. I was sitting in a pop up blind with shoot through windows but which also has the disadvantage of having blind spots. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, a hen appeared next to my decoy and was scratching and eating whatever. I immediately stopped all calling and looked around. Where there is one then there is more right?
About 100 yards away, I could see movement on the other side of a page wire fence and intermitent gobbling. It took a good half hour but eventually this jake came out and I took him. (see my other post).
Moral of the story is use the live hens to your advantage!
