Different serving material .

Post by Masboy »

Just killing time before this evenings hunt an decided to make a 40 strand astro flight EL string an try some 50 lb test rip cord for all servings. tested it along side my angel magesty for abrasion rubbing it on different things an seem at least the same or better . the angel seems so rough an gritty an the rip cord so slick an smooth an a pleasure to work with. will do my center serving also an see how it holds up. Got it on my stretcher now an waiting for a day an then will begin the endloops an center serving. I think it,s going to work great but have been wrong before

Post up the results when you can. A lot of us like to tinker as well.

Sounds interesting, look forward to reading your results.

What is 50 lb. ripcord? Is it used for parachutes? I'm not familiar with this type of product.

All the best,

I saw a couple of posts a while back where guys were using large test strength Power Pro to do servings. They said it worked great and was a lot cheaper than buying regular serving materials.

I been shooting this 40 strand astroflight with the 50lb ripcord all morning an very pleased an see no wear so far an quieter an deady accurate. It lays flat like halo an takes up the same amount of space per rap as the .026 angel majesty. A lot easier to work with an does a great looking job. I have not had any endloop serving separation on any of my strings yet an hope this serving does the same.i will be using this ripcord on all servings ends an center an i can buy 400yds of ripcord for 32.00 an only get 100 m of angel majesty for the same 32.00. I guess time will tell but very happy so far :D

Even if it doesn't last as long . . .it's cheaper and easier to work with . . .two big pluses!

Separation would be the concern with a slick material. Good luck and I hope it works.
