Vantage Point
Hopefully this isn't too underwhelming, but I was thinking about it while sitting in my stand this morning.
From mountains, to farmers fields, to swampland, the amount of terrain that we as a group have covered is probably unrivaled by any other hobby.
If you have it with you the next time you're out hunting, break out your camera, or cellphone, and snap a photo from your viewpoint. Show us what you see.

Re: Vantage Point
Wow that looks promising!!
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

Yeah, seems to be alright... Would be better if they weren't all nocturnal, but it's nice to know they're around.bellerivercrossbowhunter wrote:Wow that looks promising!!

Re: Vantage Point
Went to the farm I hunt today so I took a few pics.
My ladder stand -
View to the west where the feeder is, and there is also a ground blind at the edge of the field -
View to the south (4 came in that way yesterday morning while I was setting in the stand) -
And to the north is the shooting range, parked my truck at the bench and my son is getting set up to shoot the Phoenix -
Figured he needed to try the Phoenix with the red dot sight I put on it to replace the Leupold I took off for the muzzleloader -
The old bag target is shot out in the center, so I had him shooting at the dots on the bottom & top left -
While we were out we took a walk in the woods to check on some wild plants I keep track of -
Closeup of one of them -
Who all knows what they are?

Re: Vantage Point
This is of a stand site. I had this older pop-up blind that was faded out and starting to be a bit rotten.Painted it with a couple of coats of latex house paint. Its been sittin there for a couple of years now not much the worse for wear. It does hide pretty well too.
Its in a pretty snakey area so I built a raised wooden floor for it. I went by a couple of weeks ago to sweep out the cobwebs and peeked in to make sure there were no snakes and there were at least 500 grasshoppers in there! With a broom I tried to get 'em out but I know at least half of them are still in there. If it aint one thing its another!
We could use a rain too. huh?

The landowner thought his uncle had cleaned it out on the farm decades ago.
I found a few plants about 10 years ago and have been planting the berries every fall since. There are a couple decent patches now.
flightattendant100,
I had the bright idea of storing a 5 gallon bucket of corn for the feeder in my blind (in the pics I posted). Coons found it. Did you ever see what a coon can do to a 5 gallon plastic bucket with food inside? I threw the bucket away and left the door to the blind open in hopes the critters clean up the corn for me.

Re: Vantage Point
Great thread, am enjoying all the pic's.
Our stand
Front view from the stand, only 15ft up.
The 8pt. thats been playing games with me the past two years, hopefully he comes back again in the daylight opening day. At 15 yards from the stand would be a nice shot.
One of the mountain views from huntin camp.
A little target practice.
A couple pic's from the camera near my ground blind, this was from last year, once the bear moved in the deer moved out , though they are cute I have to admit.
And this one just for giggles
