A Good Start!

Post by NFH »

First night out since Michigans archery opener. One hour out this boy comes wandering in. 33 yards broadside with an 18" GT Laser 2 and 100 gr Swacker. This is the first deer I've used Swackers on and also the first that the arrow did not do a complete pass through. The shot hit behind the shoulder but angled forward getting into part of the shoulder on the other side (the side pictured). It didn't help I was hunting from a ground blind vs being elevated in a tree stand. The smallish exterior wounds being high on the deer on both sides made for a difficult tracking job. It took about 3 hours to find him in the thick stuff.

The GT2 didn't make it. Broke in half.
Anyway not too bad for the Matrix's first blood eh?

Congrats to a fellow Michigander nice buck well done :!: .
I think I would look into a tougher arrow for the matrix however.

You might want to go to a 3 blade BH like the Rocket hammerhead 2" cut. They are devastating on game.My buck only ran 20yds and died.Complete pass thru with my 355 and 2219 magnum arrow.I do use two rubber bands on it to keep it closed during flight. They fly like a field point! 3 blades are better than 2!
