Have you ever shortened your rope cocking aid?

Post by bobcattrapper »

I see a utube video where a fella did.I'm tall and I still have to stand straight up with it before it clicks in place.I think it maybe easier on my back if I can engage it before I am all the way up.I can't even imagine a short person doing it with the rope so long.Maybe they are not all the same length?? Or does it matter which bow? xcaliber I stop when I hear it click in place. Then put the safety on.Are you saying some folks might just keep on going after it clicks in place?? For me right now I'm about straight up when I hear it engage.I do pull up on the string a little like it shows in the DVD with the hooks on and everything before I pull up.Just thought it may be easier on my back if I shorten it.Not weak either but sometimes it takes all I got to cock that thing..Guess the cranking gadget is next for me

The rope cocking aid needs to be adjusted for the bow you are using it on. For my Phoenix I had to shorten it quite a bit. I like it so when I hook one side on I have to pull the string back 2-3" to hook the other side.

I threw my back outta wack a few weeks ago. Since I'm over 6 ft tall, I've been thinking of lengthening the rope so I don't have to crouch over as much.

The cocking action would be more like doing weight lifting curls. Has anybody ever tried that?

Mine's shortened too. I have to pull up the one side quite a bit when I put the hooks on the string, but it's worth it not to pull up as far to cock it.
