Awsome Weekend!

Post by GooGoos »

Hey everyone! Wow, well these past two weeks of hunting here in SE GA have been awesome! Opening day of our black powder I let my boyfriend use my black powder while he hunted with day, and I took my baby Axiom. Well right off the bat dad shoots before 0800, then I hear my boyfriend shoot. Then right before 0900 I had a deer behind me blow at me. I turn around and see it running down the trail. When she hits the end of it she stops. Then from the OPPOSITE direction ANOTHER deer pops out! I get my range finder and bow ready. The deer that blew at me starts to make her way into my drain about 50yds out and makes her way into bow range. I let her walk because I couldn't see the second deer, but I knew it was a mature buck when I heard him grunting. What seemed like forever, he pops down off the trail and into my train. He is on a string straight to my tree. Right away I can count at least 8pts not including his brow-tines. I range the first hole I know he is gunna hit for me at 10yds. At the point he is pretty much running after this doe, he hits the doe and I bleet at him. It was like I hit the e-brake on him. I get my 10yd pin on the shoulder, and go to squeeze the trigger and it doesn't go. Right then and there I realize I forgot to let off my safety! I was to shook up and had a bad case of buck fever that I can't even get my safety off. Him and the doe run off and I start balling my eyes out in the deer stand. I have never cried over a deer, but I am pretty sure this is the same buck my dad and I have been chasing for almost 3yrs now. He is a brute.

I haven't been able to kill a deer yet due to the fact I have been hunting hard with my bow and everything tends be out of bow range when they come by me. Dad and Branden(my boyfriend) have been knockin them down! It has been hard to get in the tree with work and my EMT training. I am trying though. The three of us sat in the woods all day yesterday and saw nothing! The woods are dead with this full moon!

Here are pictures from our hunting trips so far!

It has been a great season so far. Can't wait till I finally knock one down with my bow! Hope everyone is having a great season so far!
