First hunt of the season

Post by groundpounder »

I finally made it out for my first hunt this season. I saw a deer at about 100 yards walking at a steady pace and angling away from me. I grunted 3 times and that was enough to get its attention. It turned and walked straight to me. At about 10 yards it turned broadside to walk around some brush. As it was clearing around the side of it I let a bolt fly while sitting on the ground beside my tree. The deer went about 15 yards and stopped to look where it just came from. Then it fell right over. My shortest recovery with archery equipment yet. And the deer never saw me! A nice 6 pointer.

I meant to mention I was using the Rage 2 blade 2 inch cut. I saw a prior post with some complaints with this head. I have found if you keep a fresh o ring on it holds the blades in fine. An older o ring and not so much. I have been very pleased with this head. I just pay attention to the o rings and how well they grip the blades before I take them on a hunt.
