Apparently you can put 2 feet on each step. Perfect for people who cannot put lag bolts into trees in public land.
I think they are less than for $10.00 each step. Danny Miller was telling me about them and he sells them.

Clever idea, but I wouldn't use it. Every single knot needs to be tied perfectly and every step has the potential to slide/jolt loose due to rope stretch if you forget to inspect each one before use. The ropes would likely need to be replaced every season or two due to wear and sun/weather damage.

From my days of working 20-30 stories up on swing stages (the thing's window washers use that hang from two cables off the side of high rises) I learnt to ensure your climbing system has as little chance as possible of failing and/or causing injury. 10-15 steps up to your stand with each having it's own rope and knot means there is 20-30 points of potential failure due to mechanical or human error. I'd like it if it used steel cable with mechanical fasteners to minimize points of failure.

I watched the video and this link popped up showing a much faster and safer option that I really like.

Nothing says "state of the art", like finding the "VCR tape instructions"..
Biggest challenge now would be to find a VCR to play it in.

Nice concept, never seen it in the years it's been available though. Very good concept though. A little marketing would have gone a long way for them.
That was the problem. The guy was a Vietnam Vet who lost a leg in combat so he designed a step system that he could use and put 2 feet on. But it was so poorly marketed that it never sold.
I see no issue with system even if you replace the rope yearly.
If I weren't 60 I'd still be climbing trees for hunting and I'd use them. I've had my foot slip on a folding step and gave my leg a good rip which would never happen with this.

xcaliber wrote:Yep, it is by far one of the best systems I've seen. i would have used them five years ago, and prior. I still tote the climber, and feel very safe in it. Hard to replace that now. i still think he has a good chance to sell them with some good marketing though. It is that good of a concept.
Actually, when they're gone, they're gone. Apparently he has no intentions of making more. Even though I have no intentions of climbing another tree for hunting I might still buy a set.

I wouldn't buy it.I'd get a good climber instead if i was hunting public land. That's got to be a pain to put up in the dark.I'd sit in a blow down before using that system.

I suppose if you have your eyes closed or don't use a light you're probably right.

Extension cord for your VCR for when you forget how to tie that knot, just do it in cycles every time it flashes "12:00"... :D

I have nothing to do with this product other than seeing it and letting others know about it.
Danny is the person recommending this product. I'm sure you've spoken to Danny Miller before so why don't you ask him how difficult they are to use?

why would you do it in the dark anyway?
no disrespect but if im using a fixed stand I set it up way before I hunt it..
even using screw ins its just too much work and sweat to try in the early morn hours.
I see these as one more option ..maybe not for everyone but there are situations where I would love to have a set.
I used to use those summit buck steps..very solid ..but noisy and cumbersome to pack and set up. these should be fairly quiet and fast. as far as safety.
you have to use some common sense and always use a harness and lifeline.
I too like the idea of pulling he first 3-4 of and packing them back in.
how many does ole Miller have Boo? and does he have the full sets with the bag?

I can see there being situations where they would work great, but I thought the concept was to be portable, so nothing is in the woods without you?
Scaling those in a tree with a harness would be difficult, unless you took them down/put them up as you moved.

Read a lot of reviews, even input from Jim Stepp.
They seem to get great reviews by the guys using them.

They no longer come with bags and are sold by the each. I think he's got 200 of them and is thinking about buying more.
