what glue to use on flat nocks?

Post by bobcattrapper »

Ok my wife got me 6 new bolts for Christmas from Danny Miller. :D The 6 flat nocks inserts are seperate. So what glue do I use? superglue? I have gorilla glue. She is going to get me 3 lumenox from Danny too.So I can try them out next season too.She got me more broadheads too but I got plenty so she is going to exchange em for the S5 pads for my Axiom.I hope I like those on it. Thanks!

We need more info first. Did you recieve aluminum or carbon arrows? Are the rear flat nocks plastic or aluminum?

Your Gorilla glue will bond carbon and metal. Clean the insert and inside shaft first before bonding.

Twenty four hour two part apoxy for everything for me now. Got tired of losing inserts in targets so I just use the same for nocks now also.

X2 on Regular "Gorilla" glue on my inserts. You need to tape them in while the glue sets 'cause the glue expands and may push the insert out of the shaft a bit.I dont think they will ever come out.( not good if you ever decide to change them ) Havent lost one yet, anyway.

the question is. do you every want to change them and you answered that by saying you are getting some lummenocks .
the gorilla supper glue (blue top),epoxy ect will keep em there till forever..
I use the blue tite-bond hot glue. heat and remove.
the draw back is the nock may come out if you pull the arrow from the target with the screw in t handle.

Strum, think he's asking about inserts. Nocks: I use a dab of hot melt on to facilitate swapping.

X3 on the Gorilla glue, wood type, no water. The inserts I glued had 3 flat spots on them 120 degrees apart, no tape for me.....would have taped if not for that.

I've tried a ton of glues......this has worked the best.

Edited to say what I meant, lol.

3 arrows with inserts and 3 with Lumenoks sound about right, 3 to hunt with and 3 to practice.

I just use the same glue I fletch with, Goat Tuff. For the back inserts I just put a drop of the glue on it and then twist it to distribute it around the insert inside the shaft. That one drop is more than enough to hold the back insert.

The front insert is a whole different ball of wax.....

I now use hot melt glue on both inserts and nocks that don't press in. Makes insert/nock removal a snap if necessary.

On the flat knock if you are going to remove it you can take a plastic bag like you get from wal-mart put it over the end of the shaft and push the knock through the plastic into the shaft. it will make a nice tight fit . then you can remove the knock and put the lighted knocks in the same way if they fit loose.

Call me crazy, but surely the bolts with the inserts and those with the Lumenoks are different weight and FOC? How can you practice with one and hunt with the other and be dead on, or is difference close enough for normal hunting ranges?

I'm asking because I've been thinking of doing the same thing, that is to say ordering some Diablos with factory installed Lumenoks to hunt with. Can't say that I was a fan of them on my Mathews: shot one through a hog and one ear of the nock was ruined, then was putting "slight pressure" on the side of another to turn it off as suggested on YouTube.......... Another broken ear!!!

I realize that those which go in the end of theses bolts are earless, but that doesn't give me lots of confidence in their quality control.
