So sorry for your loss Mike. Dogs are man's best friend. I know its been said many times but its that simple. No matter how lousy a day you have had your dog will always be there to cheer you up. All he wants in return is you love. Sometimes its better to let him rest. Its just never easy for the one let behind. Time is all that can help. Take care my friend. Mike

I'm so sorry for your loss. My girl's 9 and I'd be lost without her. My heart goes out to you. You did the proper and selfless thing.

Absolutely! Words cannot express the loss between a boy and his dog. Dogs bring us down to our basic beings. They love us without condition or limit, cherish us, they are honest with us, they are forever faithful and forgiving, they show us purity in spirit and mind and they would never throw us under a bus. They are perfect beings that gift us love and companionship. They make us cry, smile and laugh. No other human has ever had all those qualities. No human will ever touch my heart like a dog can.
Very nice boo. I can't agree more with this.

Sorry for your loss.
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

Thanks to everyone for the comments & condolences. It helps to hear from all of you.

Boo, You nailed it with your comments. I've had many dogs share life with me over the years and no other creature can be so good a companion.

I'm sure we'll have another dog in the future, but it will probably be a while before one comes along and tells me we should share this journey of life while we can.

Mike, Heart felt sympathy to you for your loss. In a lot of ways it's like losing a child. Been thru that same situation many times and each time it is as bad or worse than the previous times.
Wife and I rescue dogs from shelters and seems like we can never have less than two dogs and sometimes as many as 4. They all live like family with us.

Wabi - no better testament to your relationship with Frisco than your deeply expressed affection after his passing. You have done him right in life and afterward. My condolences to you and your family.

It is said that our pets are the only family members we get to pick other than our spouses and I'm not so certain about the latter.

Sorry to hear about Frisco, Wabi. The fact that they're so unconditional makes it even tough to say goodbye.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Mike. I had a friend tell me once, we don't own them, just get to 'rent' them for a while.

You might want to consider going to a pound and rescuing a new friend rather than wait for a stray to show up.......time is short.
