Wal-mart

Post by Limbs and Sticks »

Went to cash a pension check which I've been doing for a few yrs from time to time when there was something on sale, was denied starting 2014 it didn't meet the criteria of the off shore firm that is used to ok checks being cashed. wal-mart will not cash any UNION PENSION CHECKS.... no money spent ever again to this out fit.

He's missing an opportunity to send more money to china
The Walton family own's Walmart who's annual income is $469.162 billion in the US only . I believe the founder Samuel Walton (who's net worth was $33.3 billion as of March 9, 2013) was on the John Stewart show bragging about how rich he and his family members are, right down the grandchildren! It was a surprise to hear that most of his employees qualify for food stamps because of their employment strategies.
I'm guessing your pension check was from a union pension? I know that that Walmart hates unions enough to cut their noses off despite their face. That's pretty sad considering you put your money away a long time ago for your retirement years. Seems to me you are a casualty of a feud that has really nothing to do with you.
I'm not saying that the Waltons are bad. They have to be pretty sharp business people and really really really stinking rich!

Another reason to avoid Walmart, prefer the family owned hardware store at the bottom of my hill, if they don't have it, they'll get it. Half of my neighbor's work there....

Yep, the archery business that I frequent are family owned and run. Anytime I have a problem I can talk to the owner and not met by policy.

Whether it's WalMart or your local mom n pop shop, they're all full of cheap chinese crap now. That said, I still try to do business with the small guy as much as possible but they're a dying breed. I'm NOT defending Walmart BTW, but they're not the only ones that have put the little guy out of business. Perfect example, in my little town we had 4 little independently owned hardware stores. Lowes built a superstore a few years back, now only one independent guy is left. They just cant compete for price and selection. I don't like it but it is what it is.

Hey guys , If you think you are only hurting the big wigs at Wallmart by not going there you are wrong .You are hurting the thousands of people that work in those stores because it's the only job they can get . If you don't want to shop there that's fine . But if you do it because you think you are getting back at the Walton's , You end up taking money away from employee's that work very hard every day . And it's not their fault we as consumers demand low prices and Wallmart buys stuff out of China. So please give THEM a brake.

And there we have it. If you want to blame someone, blame the millions of consumers who opted for the cheap chinese good instead of the more expensive USA made one. Once upon a time WE had a choice to buy American or buy imported, but those days are long gone. WE opted for the cheaper chinese goods and now the US manufacturer is either out of business or they sent their factories overseas in search of ever cheaper labor to exploit. Sorry yall but I get bent about this subject. Everybody wants to blame walmart but if you want to lay blame look in the mirror, and I include myself in that group. We largely did it to ourselves. Getting off my soapbox now.

We didn't all opt fer cheaper rice patty jumpers products! Look at all those CEO's that wanted more profits in their Bank acct's 6 figure ppl. Yup they sent the work over there to the Chinese ppl. & plants so they could all get filthy rich :( I don't buy Poe Lang crossbows nor any of the other Chinese made crossbows. I buy either Canadian or USA made crossbows :)

Recently bought a new fishing pole and WalMart had the lowest price (far lower than any other source I could find). To get it I had to order it online, then print out the order and take the copy of the order to the local store and pay for it. The printed order had instructions telling me to take it to ANY CASHIER and pay, and also had complete instructions for the cashier to ring up the order (what keys to push on the register).
Took it to the shortest line (which was still way too long to suit me). Finally reached the register, handed it to the cashier, and she told me I'd have to take it to the layaway desk in the back of the store. By then my temper was short (I hate waiting in lines) and I told her to read the paper! "It says take this to ANY REGISTER!"
She had to call a supervisor to ring it up for her!

I've been to business college and studied a couple different employee concepts businesses use.
One is to hire quality people, reward them for motivation and efficiency by promoting them and giving pay raises, and keep them for years.
Another policy is to hire anyone who will work for low wages, work them hard, and when they become efficient enough to ask for a raise fire them and hire a new employee.
I notice the only long-term employees I see at the local WalMart seem to be workers with little ambition.
