Matrix 380 on its way!

Post by X2Shooter »

So after asking you gents your opinion, ordered the 380 last week.
Also got in touch with Big John and have some Executioners on the way.
Being as I am new to the crossbow game I figured I would wait on a Boo string until I feel comfortable.
I do want to clarify one thing though, I should set the string 1/4 inch off the Reds not the 1/8 that the instructions say... Correct?
I will blue loc tite everything before even shooting it, as per what I've read.
I am planning on shooting G5 T3 broadheads as I have had great luck with them in a vert bow, does anyone else shoot these out of the 380? Did get the red clips ordered up. Whats your thoughts? Am I missing anything?

Big thanks to Big John for a very good and painless experience ordering the bolts!!

congrats on the new bow..you will love it :D
don't get to hung up on the string distance thing. set it at 1/8 to 1/4 even more wont hurt. the string will creep and youll have to reset it from time to time. not so much after it settles in.
the main objective is to keep the string off the pad at the uncocked position.
also try to not let the seams of the pads line up with the string. that's asking for some splits. and turning them a little from time to time helps them last longer too.

I got my 380 yesterday and I should have listened to everyone I put it together and ran off to the range to shoot it. Had it all tight I thought but after four shots the two main bolts that hold the limbs to the main frame came loose and I didn't bring my wrench so I was done and headed home after only 4 shots. But man is this thing fast and the Hawke XB30 SR scope is incredible.

I am going to order 380 from Danny. Waiting on him to call back now. You changed scopes? I have read negative reviews on the tact zone scopes that come with them. Was not sure f i needed to upgrade or if Excalibur has fixed the issue.

Good advice given ! I keep mine 1/4 to 3/8 off the reds . I might add that a custom string will keep you from having to adj distance so much , a lot less stretching . Enjoy !

According to Danny they have not made any changes to the Tact Zone. I am exchanging mine for a Leupold Crossbones through Danny. I guess I fall into the 2% failure rate on them......

That's wild. Cause I was going to get another scope but Danny told me they fixed the problem and I would not have any problems out of the tact zone scope.
