turkey broadheads

Post by wcbarker »

What do you guys use and what do you shoot them into to sight in. Guillotenes wont shoot into a broadhead target.

I've never shot the Guillotene or Bullheads but a couple buddies of mine do and they normally sight them in on a pillow. Free hanging so it can move with the hit and swing freely. I am going to try turkey hunting this Spring and plan to either shoot Slick Trick Magnums or Cabela's Lazer Strike II Crossbow mechanical heads.

I've got some Slick Trick mags to try on gobblers this year but I also want to try a wider cut mechanical like the NAP Spitfire or TT Ulmer Edge.

Last spring I used Rage 100 gr two blade turkey broadhead, shot this guy in the back as he attempted a quick getaway, dropped him like a sack of cement & cut his beard in half on exit.I forgot my face mask! Never found my arrow....

I've heard good things from a few other people about the rage 2 blade heads on turkeys out of their vertical bows.

Gotta say, that's first time I've ever used a mechanical broadhead. Still like fixed heads for deer.

A few years ago a guy was hunting turkeys on the same farm I hunt. He was using an Excalibur Vixon with fiberglass fishing arrows with guillotene heads. The use of the long fishing arrows got the guillotene heads past the stirrup. The set up worked he got a nice gobbler. I use a Vista Small Game Adder Point directly behind A 100gr. Slick Trick. This set up really stops a turkey and cuts down on pass through arrows. I also use a Vixon as a turkey bow. These Vista Adder Points are bladed collars that sit behind a broadhead you can view them on the Cabela's site.

I got a turkey last year with a G5 Striker Magnum. It went 20 yards.

I have seen some great vid's of those guillotene heads and boy they sure mess up a gobblers head if you hit em right.

Don,t think its which broadhead you use,Shot placement is more important as with any game!
