i was in Thunder Bay this week checking out a school my daughter wants to attend. The fellow at the motel told us about these deer . They are trying to find food and coming into town, everyone thinks they will loose a big part of their herd this winter as well as moose. I talked to guys in sports shops that say the wolves are picking them off every easy and think next years litters of wolves will be bigger and put more pressure on game in winters in the future

Munch, the secret's out! This old lady in my town must read the forum or something.

(She told me there were more in the backyard. Followed her around back and there were 20 more, including some massive bucks. They almost knocked her over for some food. She hand fed them and called them by the names she's given them.)

That's pretty crazy. Makes me think of when we camp at a State park near us, deer are everywhere and kids feed them fruit and watermelon by hand. I never could get one to take food from my hand though, maybe they saw the lusty gleam in my eye
I think its not good for the deer to get so used to human contact though, they lose that instinctive fear of humans and IMO it will hurt the herd in the long run.

I encounter deer also Kegbelly that act like they owe me lots of money and have a place somewhere else they need to be real soon.Could be the occasional warning shot. A friend and I pulled our stands one year after locating a dandy buck. A short distance away my friends daughter insisted we check out, turned out lots of folks were feeding and watching them from their chairs on porches.

I think its not good for the deer to get so used to human contact though, they lose that instinctive fear of humans and IMO it will hurt the herd in the long run.

Where I hunt it's closed to hunting, and people that hand feed deer just make a poacher's job even easier. Joe Public has no idea that they are domesticating a wild animal.

its too bad people started to feed them in a way.but i think it was more concern about them not making it threw the winter. as much as i love to hunt deer you could not have payed me to shoot one of those deer .and i bet most here would not. maybe someone thats willing to jacklight deer may get some pleasure from that but not much sport in it. i think i did more harm to myself than the deer ,i have no idea how im going to get this video out of my head before october first 2014
