They kinda go hand in hand, but im a beard man... I think

But when a turkey comes into my set-up, its a thrill! doesn't matter if its a tom or a jake. Some of my best times turkey hunting has been when a hen comes right in to my calls and gets in my face, no shots fired but man it gets the blood flowing!

It doesn't matter to me with a turkey, when it comes to getting one within bow or crossbow range I just know thats another one that won't be eating my corn during deer season. Fortunately we are covered up with in N.C. but they play havoc on trying to feed the deer because when my feeders go off the turkeys come running.

Yes there is white meat, but I find that it is a little darker then store bought (chemical filled) turkeys. But there is still a difference between the White meat (even if it is a little darker) and dark meat.

Dave, the breast is white.
I've never seen their spurs before shooting so it's beards for me.

Knowing the law in your state is most (what's better) important.

I live in Michigan and the rules read: "One bearded turkey per licensed hunter. it is unlawful to take or possess a turkey that does not have a beard, or tag a bird you did not kill. Turkeys may not be taken while they are in a tree."

Spurs for me! I like those long hooks and it also lets me know the approximate age of the bird. (note I said approximate)
