O/T .22 LR Rant[Pic added]

Post by awshucks »

Geez! Been trying to buy a brick or two of .22 lr's. Saw some yesterday at a gun show for $50. Ouch! .22 Mag was $22 for 50 rnds.

I've been to Ft Smith twice now at 0' dark thirty to an Academy Sporting goods on a good rumor they'd have them. No dice. I got there this a.m. [86 miles] at 5:45,
there was a gal waiting ahead of me and three more vehicles showed up, all before 6 a.m. and they open the doors at 8 a.m.

How's the availability for y'all? My wish list:
1. 10 boxes of 100 rnds CCI Mini Mag 36 gr hp's [no bulk I know of]
2. 2 bulk boxes of Federal hps, think they come 525 rnds per box
3. 2 boxes Win bulk, still hp's.

If someone can get them, [1000 rnds total] pm me. Thanks!![No Remingtons, lol.]

Got 'er back from the gsmith this a.m. Guess I'm ready, lol. Trigger pull is just under 2 lbs. I have to admit, I was amazed when I looked at the target...

Hard to come by and expensive here in south Mississippi as well. Saw some off brand standard velocity LR's at a recent gun show (500 brick) for $100.

Same here, 22 LR is hard to find, and I don't want it bad enough to pay highway robbery prices when you can find it. The availability of other calibers has gotten a lot better, hopefully 22's will too.

They are thin here too. I have a buddy in a big box store, he saves me the 525 round boxes. I have enough to keep all the itchy trigger fingers here happy for a while, but the empty shelves are an odd sight.
.22s are just a stress reliever for me, I shoot to escape. Not stressed, but its better nothing.
My advice sir, get yourself a little 17 Remington, I can talk about those all day!
Thanks again by the way.

Buy a nice air rifle and use that until 22LR prices come back to reality.

Oh there is no shortage, in fact the ammo makers can't make it fast enuff. US Government is purchasin all of it millions of $ of Tax payers money spent. They are warehousin it, what good are 22 rifles if'en you have no ammo. They don't have to stop our Firearms jus stop our ammo! :(

I can get all I want as my sister manages a sporting goods store locally. They get shipments of 22 shells in every week and its always the same guys waiting in line to get it every week. Hoarders and speculators are the ones driving the shortage. Guys I know who never had more that a few hundred shells laying around now have thousands, some have tens of thousands.... VM, I don't trust our gov't either but they aren't the ones driving this shortage....

They may not be driving it anymore, but they did start it.

About a month ago,I found a 525 brick of Federals for $25. Bought the last one they had. Need to go back and see if they have more, yet.....RR

Me too, just not their .22's. My gun[S&W 22A] won't handle them well, according to the reviews I've read.
I'll post a pic of it when I get it back from gsmith, who's working on the trigger pull.

I know the others I mentioned will perform........

Pyp, have you whacked a squirrel w/ your 17 Rem yet? Be prepared, lol. Aim way forward........
