Finally got me a turkey today. First one I have ever killed, first time ever really turkey hunting, only 3 days left, been almost every day and some twice, and to top it off took him down with my matrix 380. Let me tell you, one heck of a kill too. I expected him to go a ways, flop or something, already day dreamed it 100x.
He was at a full run at a strutter decoy, been using hens all season and decided to use a strutter with her today, his head was fire red going at the strutter. Soon as he got to the decoys he knew it was a trick and went to take off so i took the shot with him on the move, i was waiting for him to stop, but knowing he was about to leave i took him at about 20 yards, dropped him right there. I could not believe it. It was like a mac truck hit him. He hit the dirt hard, only thing he did was try to raise his head and it was over. Very humane kill, the best part of the hunt..
Thanks for all the advice and help from everyone on here. God really blessed me, as usual....Cooked half a breast tonight and boy was he good. 10.5 beard, 1 inch spurs. 1 more tag left and two more afternoon. I can hunt.
