Misty morning tom

Post by NewGuy »

Woke up this morning and got geared up, waited for my buddy to show up, debated in going back to bed but decided to leave before it got too late. Turns out he slept in!
I only heard one gobble from the same area as last Saturday, then I heard him fly down. My buddy texted me upset with himself that he slept in. Told him I only heard one gobble and a hen. Rain was on and off lightly and 15 minutes later a lone tom emerged from the bush. I got my gun up as he headed straight for my decoys. A few minutes later and the hunt was over. Stats to follow once the wife looks away and I can bring the scale out to the garage ;-)

Oh, I have been :-)
Truth is, I would have gone to a different property had he came out. I told him I wouldn't have let him shoot anyways ;-)

I don't hunt turkey, but I always see a lot on the move when it's raining! Congrats on the hunt!

Congrats on a nice bird

It's hard to force yourself to get moving that early when the weather is crappie but today you made a good choice.

Thanks folks, this has been my best season ever! Now I can take a couple buddies out to try and get them a couple birds! Less gear for me to carry ;-)

CONGRATS on the tom... and getting out and hunting even if the morning didn't start out as planned. :)
