Here's a report on the OMP TipTamers

Post by Pa.hunter »

I ordered 2 sets of them from Wyvern's and got them this week and finally got to play with them today. First I will say there's not much of any instructions. So I will go over how I installed them.First thing is check and make sure your brace height is set properly. Before you peel the paper off the tape slide them up under your string and put a little pressure on them until they snug up and follow the bend of the recurve tip. Make sure the string is centered down the groove and there facing the right direction. Then take a pencil and trace them. Then cock the bow back and put the safety on.Then peel the paper and install them on you traced lines. The only reason I wanted to go over that it dosen't work peeling the paper and trying to slide them under because the tape will stick before they are snug against the string. Any way I installed them on both my 380 and 330. I did run a couple shots through the chrono and they did loose a couple feet fps. The 380 went from 366fps to 363fps and the 330 went from 313fps to 312fps. I don't know why they where different but that's what they where. I shot the same BEE bolt out of both. Now do they do what they say. They most certainly do. They do cut down on the shock, vibration and recoil. They don't completely eliminate it but they do noticeably improve it. Are they worth the $12.00 I think so.

I hope this helps you guys that our interested.

Thanks very much for the report. I ordered three sets and I'm just waiting for them. If they're that good it's worth a couple fps.

Thanks Pa.hunter....I have 3 sets sitting on my desk and waiting for my son to come over tomorrow to install them with me.....I kind of suspected that that would be the protocol for installation but thanks for confirming it...Will report back on my findings also once I have them installed and get a chance to travel out to the range (a week or two away)....

Thanks again,

Thank you for the review Pa.Hunter. I have been a little "on the fence" in ordering these. You've nudged me a bit to one side. . .I'm still going to wait and hear what a few more guys have to say. If someone with an Exocet 200 tries them, I would really like to know as well. Thanks again.

i agree ..good review.. I cant remember how many DBs the S5s reduce..i think 5 maybe and the cat whiskers another 5-8. I would love to see someone do a before and after DB test starting with a factory string then adding maybe a Flemish then the s5s then the whiskers then the tip tamers ect.. I bet its a fair amount of difference.

there is a good read about this on AT...seems like there is an issue with getting them to stay stuck..
they need to be applied 24 hours before shooting to let the glue set.

Thanks strum, Just checked out AT discussion on them. Like I said the instructions where very vague. I didn't leave the air gap I just snugged them against the string. I failed to leave them sit 24hrs to. :D I put them on both and shot maybe 10 bolts out of the 380 and shot the 330 almost all day and I had no issues with them coming off. Maybe with the air gap I would have. You would have thought OMP would have put some better instructions on them. They said nothing about the air gap or 24 hrs. Oh well there staying put unless I have a issue with them later.

It's always best with any limb saver to let um sit for 24hrs,,,Bow Jax calls that to your attention when you buy a pack of theirs,,,plus it's just common sense IMHO

As I use my android I can't access AT properly with tapatalk. Can you please tell me what air gap you're referring to. I have three sets of these on order. Thanks.

I'm thinkin he means that the string touchs the tamers when the bow is un cocked.
