I bought a quart of Permethrin SFR 36.8% from Amazon. I mix mine in a 32 oz. spray bottle by putting in a half ounce of permethrin and 31.5 oz. of water. Shake it good and spray your clothes down and let them dry. It smells till it dries and then the smell goes away. I have not had a chigger or tick on me for years when I remember to use it.

If you want a larger amount the proper mixture is 1.666 oz. per gallon of water for a .05% mixture.

You can buy consentrate from any farm supply store that works great. Smell goes away over a couple of days as I spray my clothes down and gear for ticks and chiggers. Lasts about 6 weeks and even thru numerous washings . Sawyers makes it aslo, just google sawyers.

To start with get a product that does not contain petroleum distillates. This is a product that works well for me:
http://store.doyourownpestcontrol.com/m ... methrin-10
Mix the product to a .5 % concentration. For the Martins, or any 10% product, mix it 20 to 1. I put the diluted solution in a garden sprayer and spray my pants, outer shirt and tops of my socks(not while you have them on) just to the point of saturation and then hang till completely dry. Protect yourself from the liquid solution. Once it drys it is safe to handle/wear.You can use a product from the farm store but most contain petroleum distillates and WILL smell like pesticide when dry. Another method involves mixing the same .5% concentration but immersing the clothing. That method uses more of the diluted solution to treat but supposedly lasts longer. While I can't recommend that you take my advise or use any permethrin product outside it's labeled uses this method has worked well for me for years and I do not come home with ticks or chiggers. If you have reservations about this or any other method you can buy this:
http://www.campmor.com/Product___81336
and get the same product and application instructions for much more $

Wow...this is the cheapest place that I have seen it...we have a Campmor by us...I need to go pick this up today and spray clothes for next week...

Now if they can only bring out a product that brings a monster buck right to your stand...guaranteed that would be great....

Permethrin is a mammalian nerve agent and know human carcinogen. Please make sure you are following all label and MSDS precautions if you are going to do this. Personally, I work with pesticides for a living and would never consider storing, mixing and handling concentrated permethrin to save a few measly $.

I thought from what I read is that it came from chrysanthemum flower and was safe except to small animals such as cats...The products on the market seem to indicate they can be sprayed on clothes with no ill effects.

I do defer to an expert such as yourself however! Thanks for the warnings and heads up!
