bolt lenght in matrix

Post by warningshot »

i am wondering if shooting 20 inch bolts on the matrix, has any drawbacks other than sticking out further out on the bow, just got my bow and looking to get some arrows, also what is the heaviest weight i can shoot out of bow, the bow will be used for hunting and max shot is 35 yrds, thanks

A Slugged arrow like the ones Danny Miller made for Bill T. for his African Elephant kill was one heavy bugger made by inserting a heavy carbon blank arrow inside a heavy aluminum arrow and that's maybe 900+ grains with a heavy broadhead (I'm not sure of the exact grain).

You can shoots those 20's all day if you do your part aiming the Matrix.

Dave at Wyvern Creations told me that the 20" b.e.e. Arrows stabilized better than a 18" with the testing he had done with the Matrix 380,and 405. So that's what I had him make for my Matrix 380,and they shoot great.

This is dictated by physics. The further the fletching is away from the center of the arrow, the more correcting force they can exert. So 20" arrows should stabilize easier than something shorter. However, guys shoot 17", and 18" all day long with great accuracy so it's mostly preference.

If you want heavy, why not consider a 2219 and a brass insert? You can also go to broadheads as heavy and some heavier than 175 gr.
