New XBow Shooter from Texas

Post by tex45acp »

Howdy Folks!!

I hunted with a Hoyt Raptor for many years and a PSE & Martin bow before that, So after the car wreck and the whiplash damage and the doctor telling me that I would permenately not have full side to side movement of my neck, I realized that my bowhunting days were over. I moped around for a couple of years and then wandered into the local Bass Pro shop and talked to another guy with similar problems who transitioned into XBow hunting.......well I just had to try.

After exhaustive internet searches from dozens of forums, experts and youtube videos, I went back to the Bass Prow shop and asked to shoot their Axiom SMF.

Three bolts in the bull at 30 yards....I was hooked and took one home for myself.

I assembled it, and set up a target and after 6 bolts downrange and a slight scope adjustment, I was tearing up a ragged hole at 30 yards.

I have a 9 point whitetail coming to my feeder that has a spot just begging for one of my bolts!!

Welcome from another Texan. Great choice on Excalibur and the Axiom model. ALL Excals shoot great. You will love it.Maybe a bit more clumsy to get through the woods than your verticle bow but it sure is nice not having to draw with the deer there. Keep your thumb down below the rail and have a ball.

Congrats on the crossbow, you'll love it. They do take a bit of getting used to hauling out to the woods as stated, but you catch on pretty quick after a few snags!

Welcome!
It's still "archery" and the same basic rules still apply.

(Actually switching to a crossbow from "traditional" archery resulted in me learning to get even closer and being even more "picky" about the shots I take.)
