HOOKS UP? OR DOWN?

Post by bubba »

I just read a post by boo saying always have your rope cocker hooks up, and never buy from the excel man expert...Those cheap rope cockers. Now boo did say have them up when de cocking I guess so you can make sure they are on good. But I have been using them down. Just wanted to see how fellow members use there rope cockers.... bubba.......

I did hook down for a long time and then went to hooks up. it just works better especially on the matrix bows.

xcalibur (Dan) sold these for awhile and both hooks failed catastrophically the first time I used it causing wood stock damage and severely delaminating a limb. The hooks and rope he used were cheep Chinese imitations. xcalibur Dan's support was non existent mixed with a few ugly lies.
To the original poster, I prefer hooks up for a better string seating view.

True, Danny Miller is a class act. Member xcalibur (Dan) is a fake. I suggested he recall them for safety reasons and he strongly refused using a BS/lie excuse.

I use hooks down, uncocking , and cocking. Just like the video here shows. If someone could explain the advantage of hooks up, I'm listening.

When your hooks are up you can see that your string is fully engaged. With hooks down, you are only guessing.

Screen shot from the video of Bill T. showing how to use the rope cocking aid.
Image

Note the position of the hooks and decide for yourself.

IMO, if it works for Bill T. it will probably work for me.

I always used hooks down, but switched to hooks up
To me in the pic the hooks seem to pull outward when down, when I have them up they tend to pull inward keeping the hooks tight to the rail giving me a better and easier pull.
That's JMO and not saying that's the way to do it.
